About Martyn Pearn - head of cookery
Michelin-starred chef Martyn Pearn heads the cookery team.  Martyn's CV includes:

  • member of the Academy of Culinary Arts
  • executive chef at the Connaught Hotel
  • head chef at La Reserve, Bordeaux
  • chef at Buckland Manor, Cotswolds

  • Martyn says...
"We tailor courses here, so if several people contact us to say they want an upmarket dinner party menu, for instance, we can tailor the course structure to suit everyone.

"The biggest thing for me is getting everyone around the demonstration table, leaning in and asking questions, before making everything themselves.  We offer professional courses too, with tuition and training that addresses the client's specific needs and requirements.  We also rely heavily on local producers - for example buying asparagus from one supplier because he's the best and our soft fruits from another."

    What's the accommodation like?
Located in an historic farmhouse (one of the oldest houses in the county with parts dating back to the 12th century), the accommodation offers modern facilities, tasteful decor throughout and oodles of original charm and character.

    Your accommodation comprises:

  • kitchen with Aga oven and fridge
  • living/bedroom with TV and wireless broadband
  • luxury bathroom fitted with Fired Earth products

  • Things to look out for

Not everything at Eckington Manor is supplied by the Aga Rangemaster Group.  The chaise longue on the farmhouse landing is from Buckingham Palace, and the magnificent statue of Pan gracing the immaculate gardens is by Paul Richardson, a renowned Suffolk sculptor.

    Quality meat on your doorstep
Award-winning Highland and Aberdeen Angus cattle are bred for the school at the nearby 260-acre Manor Farm.  Head stockman is Ian Anderson, winner of the prestigious Burke Trophy on two consecutive occasions.
